Welcome Message Dear members of the TSPS, distinguished guests, and friends,
It is my greatest honor and pleasure to welcome you all to the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery (TSPS), held this year in the historic and culturally rich city of Tainan. On behalf of the Society, I extend my warmest greetings to each of you --- members, residents, international visitors, global partners, international and domestic invited speakers, who have traveled from near and far to join this long-anticipated gathering of minds and hearts.
Since its founding in 1982, the Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery has been steadfast in its mission to advance the art and science of plastic surgery in Taiwan and beyond. Over the past four decades, we have grown to a vibrant board-certified medical specialty society which are recognized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Taiwan, with 833 active members, 163 residents under training across 18 accredited plastic surgery training centers nationwide. This remarkable growth reflects the passion and commitment of our members, whose pursuit of excellence continually elevates the standards of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
The TSPS Annual Meeting is our Society’s most celebrated academic event of the year. It brings together leading experts, researchers, innovators, and clinicians to share the latest developments across the full spectrum of plastic surgery---from complex reconstructive procedures to cutting-edge aesthetic techniques, and even robotic microsurgery or AI technology applied in plastic surgery, etc. This year’s program is particularly plentiful and diverse. It spans advanced clinical surgical skills, novel surgical innovations, basic and translational research, and interdisciplinary collaborations. We have also included highly practical sessions addressing topics that directly impact our daily practice, such as patient safety and anesthesia risk management, strategies for applying National Health Insurance payments, and knacks for applying National Science and Technology Council research proposals. Each session promises not only to illuminate but to inspire.
We are deeply honored to host 28 distinguished international speakers from 10 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Italy, Austria, Indonesia, and Thailand, who have generously come to share their expertise and global perspectives. We also host the APRAS (Asian Federation of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Societies) session for the countries of the global partnership. In addition to these international masters, more than 60 outstanding local faculty members will present their excellent work, complemented by approximately 130 free papers and posters. This wealth of knowledge and experience ensures a program of exceptional breadth and depth, promising stimulating discussions and meaningful collaborations in patient care, medical education, and research.
The theme of this year’s meeting is “Illuminate, Inspire, Refine”, beautifully captures the spirit of our gathering. “Illuminate” signifies the enlightenment that comes from the intersection of knowledge, culture, and technology. “Inspire” reflects the spark of creativity and emotional resonance that drives innovation. “Refine” embodies the pursuit of mastery and the continual elevation of our craft, where the precision of science meets the sensitivity of art. It is through refinement that we transform good practice into not only great patient care but also social responsibility. In keeping with this theme, we believe that the Annual Meeting is more than an academic conference; it is a platform for cultural enrichment and professional growth. We hope each of the participants will seize this opportunity to exchange ideas, forge friendships, and embrace the perfect blend of science and humanity that defines our profession.
This year’s meeting is also special because, unlike previous years that were mostly held in Taipei, we have chosen Tainan as our host city. Known as Taiwan’s ancient capital and the cradle of our island’s rich heritage, Tainan offers an unforgettable cultural journey for all our guests. From the revered Confucius Temple, Taiwan’s first academy, to the historic Chikan Tower, the majestic Great Banyan of National Cheng Kung University, the elegant Anping Old Fort, and the serene wetlands that welcome the black-faced spoonbill, every corner of Tainan tells a story of resilience, wisdom, and beauty. Be sure to savor the city’s world-famous cuisine and stroll through its charming streets, where tradition and modernity coexist in harmony.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated TSPS Annual Meeting Secretariat Office, organizing committee team, and all the officers, staff who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible. The devotion and teamwork have ensured that this meeting is not only academically rewarding but also a joyful and memorable experience for all participants.
Finally, let us celebrate the achievements of our Society, the dedication of our members, and the limitless possibilities that lie ahead. May this meeting illuminate our minds, inspire our hearts, and refine our skills and attitude, guiding us to even greater heights in the art and science of plastic surgery.
Once again, welcome to Tainan and to the 2025 TSPS Annual Meeting, and I wish you all good health, happiness, and lasting success.
Sincerely
