Dear Colleagues
Welcome to the 2022 Annual Meeting of Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery(TSPS)!
I wish you and your family all the best and peace.

At the moment of 40th anniversary of the Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery (TSPS), we are full of expectations for the development of plastic surgery. So far (December 2022), the outbreak of COVID-19 in January 2020 has affected human beings all over the world for 3 years. Under the vaccination measures, the epidemic situation in Taiwan has gradually eased, and the epidemic prevention regulations have gradually been unsealed. The impact on hospitals and clinics has been relatively reduced, and medical and academic development has returned to normal. After the epidemic, we still have to move forward and welcome promising future.

The long-term development of plastic surgery depends on two goals, namely internationalization and academic improvement. In terms of the goal of internationalization, since last year, the TSPS has participated in the planning of the Asian Federation of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Societies "APRAS ". On November 12th 2022 (Doctor's Day), 8 societies signed contrast and "APRAS " was established, and the Bylaws was confirmed in Seoul, South Korea. A total of eight Asian countries, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Pakistan, have become founding members. In the future, knowledge sharing and personnel exchange in plastic surgery in Asia, including new fields, new technologies, and exchanges with lecturers, will be very frequent. In terms of the goal of academic improvement, TSPS arranged lectures and experience sharing on thesis writing skills, in the annual continuing education course arranges, and arranges speeches by the editor-in-chief of important plastic surgery journals at the annual meeting, so as to urge members to deepen their specialization and be diligent in collecting and analyzing data, and continuous long-term writing of papers.

The Annual Meeting of TSPS is held on December 17-18 this year on the 7th floor of Nan-Gang Exhibition Hall 2. The theme of this year's meeting is "Creation Cogitation & Discipline Delivery", which means "Innovation and Inheritance" to pass on innovative concepts and experience and to continues to flourish, in the academic field of plastic surgery. The agenda therefore invites young and senior teachers to give speeches, implying innovation and inheritance.

For the Keynote Lecture, TSPS invites Academician Fu-Chan Wei to give a speech, and for the Noordhoff Lecturer TSPS invites UCSF Director William Hoffman to give a speech. For the Lecture of Editor-in-chief of the magazine, Kevin Chung, editor-in-chief of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons(ASPS) "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; PRS" magazine, was invited by the society to come to Taiwan to give a speech in person, talking about writing his ideal paper and essentials for publishing papers in "PRS" Magazine. TSPS also invited Professor Lun-Jou Lo, Editor-in-chief of "Biomedical Journal" magazine(the highest impact factor in Taiwan), and TSPS also invited Professor William C. Lineaweaver, Editor-in-chief of the cooperative journal "Annals of Plastic Surgery; APS" (webinar speech)for speech. The agenda of the annual meeting has also arranged new topics, including regenerative medicine, AI medicine, and new developments in fat grafting. For cosmetic surgery, such as blepharoplasty, face sculpturing surgery, and mammoplasty, domestic and foreign experts are also invited. Gender issues, including plastic surgery of the Adam's apple in gender reassignment surgery, and genitoplasty.

In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of TSPS, two special issues were published. The first issue is "The 40th Anniversary Collection of the Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery(TSPS)", which presented a brief history of the society. The second issue is special issue of " Plastic Surgery STORY ", including the history of rhinoplasty and reconstruction of nose in major hospitals in Taiwan, special episodes of rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, breast reconstruction, body sculpture, hair transplant, new trends in plastic surgery, and medical disputes disposal. Thanks to the editorial team of " Plastic Surgery STORY " for the preparation and editing of the two special issues.

The preparation of the annual meeting relies on lots of effort and time. Thanks to Secretary-General Chi-Ming Pu, Deputy Secretary-General Chieh-Feng Chen, Yuan-Sheng Tzeng, Jia-Hsuan Tsai, Yu-Hsiu Yen, Po-Cheng Huang, Wen-Kuan Chiu, Secretary Amy Jia-Hui, Yan-Ting, Yan- Ling, and Chief Financial Officer Hwang-Chi Lin for their dedication. We hereby welcome all members to the 7th Floor, Hall 2, Nan-Gang Exhibition Hall on December 17-18 to attend our annual meeting of the Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery.
