Welcome to the 2021 Plastic Surgery Society Annual Meeting!
I wish you and your family all the best and peace.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in January 2020, due to the effectiveness of epidemic prevention measures and vaccination, the affected scope of medical care in the hospital has been relatively limited. Whether it is an individual or a hospital, the entire medical and academic development is still ongoing. Although the amount of medical service was reduced from May to June 2021 due to community spreading, almost all medical operations in the hospital have resumed, by November 2021. Therefore, after experiencing the test of the COVID-19 pandemic, we still have to move forward in the future, just like experiencing the pre-dawn moment, we must continue to face the rising sun.
The annual meeting of TSPS will be held on December 4th and 5th, at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center 1 (TaiNEX 1). The theme of this annual meeting is Advanced Academia & Beyond Boundaries, which indicate that we need to move forward in the academic field. In addition, we hope to develop new ones. The agenda include the seniors speeches, which has Implied inheritance meaning. The agenda also has new topics, including cell therapy, scar treatment and the latest research progress, AI medicine, and the latest progress of fat grafting, Biofilm issue. In terms of cosmetic surgery, such as facial plastic surgery, breast plastic surgery, and body sculpting surgery, domestic and foreign experts are invited to give speeches. This year, gender issues are also proposed, including gender reassignment surgery, and Feminizing and male genitoplasty.
The guests speakers are from Europe, the United States, Japan, Korea, Australia and other countries. Some of them are international visiting professors of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS). The speakers also include authors of papers in PRS magazine. Japan and Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (JSPRS & KSPRS) have signed an MOU with our society, and also assisted in arranging Japanese and Korean speakers. In addition, our domestic speakers are mainly experts who have long-term experience in the above-mentioned fields.
At the same time, 2021 HEALTHCARE EXPO TAIWAN held by Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI) has an exhibition at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center 1 (TaiNEX 1), which is the venue of our meeting. TSPS has an exhibition area at the 2021 HEALTHCARE EXPO TAIWAN. The theme of the exhibition is Microsurgery. 2021 TSPS/TSRM Microsurgery Contest was also held for the first time. The exhibition area also displayed the education results of The Chang Gung University Reconstructive Microsurgery Master of Science (MS) Program established by Academician Fu-Chan Wei. It is hoped that through this activity, young medical students and residents can better understand the field of plastic surgery and participate in plastic surgery in the future.
The annual meeting also include a Podcast recording program. We want to invite our members to participate in this event co-organized with the team of Plastic Surgery Story Magazine (整形春秋雜誌). The title of this Podcast is "Walking through COVID: Recording Experiences and Planning the Next Page". Members are invited to share the impact of COVID-19 on us this past two years and record our most impressive memories; after we have been able to pass this pandemic time, we will also record our expectations and plan for post-COVID-19 era. The recorded Podcast will be posted on the official website of TSPS and shared with members for listening.
The preparation of the annual meeting relies on lots of effort and time. Thanks to Secretary-General Chi-Ming Pu, Deputy Secretary-General Chieh-Feng Chen, Yuan-Sheng Tzeng, Chia-Hsuan Tsai, Yu-Hsiu Yen, Po-Cheng Huang, Secretary Chia-Hui, Yen-Ting, Yen-Ling, and Treasurer Huang-Chi Lin for their dedication. We hereby welcome all members to Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center 1 (TaiNEX 1) on December 4th and 5th to attend our annual meeting of TSPS.
