Background:
Alarplasty is a particular part of rhinoplasty and usually looked- down by rhinoplasty surgeons. However, it’s an essential aid to achieve pleasing alar morphology in certain conditions. Poor alarplasty result usually comes from misjudgment and sub-optimal design. Alarplasty is not only for alar width adjustment, but also for alar rim margin curvature, shape of nostril, and breathing function correction.

Method:
Preventable problems: Pinched Alar rim deformity, Alar retraction, Q-deformity and nostril contracture.
Solvable problems: Alar flaring, Wide alar base, Alar retraction and Hanging alar deformity
Unsolved problems: Scar control, thick skin and alar lobule

Conclusion:
Good results come from comprehensive evaluation and surgical design,
