  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy in management of filler-related facial complications 高壓氧治療面部填充物導致之併發症

The more and more cosmetic procedures were used in Taiwan in recent 10 years. From skin care, fillers augmentation and surgical procedures were commonly used in more “beauty” clinics rather than hospitals.
Unfortunately, the more and more complications around these cosmetic procedures might be reported and bothered the customers and doctors so much. The clinical signs of this kind of complications often revealed disturbance of the tissue circulation, necrosis and infection. The basic reasons of complications could be concluded in compromised microcirculation and infection during these “beauty” procedures.
The hyperbaric oxygen therapy is useful for the infection control, enhancement of leukocyte killing ability and facilitating wound healing. In the compromised tissues with impending necrosis, the HBOT is useful for salvage the “gray area” and make it survival as possible after correction of the hypoxia. The following effects included reduced edema, angiogenesis and infection control. The crucial process is the timing for intervention of the HBOT. The higher salvage rate obtained in the patients receiving the HBOT in time.
