  • Application of pulsed dye laser in scars and vascular lesions

Pulsed dye laser(PDL) is a laser that emits light from a rhodamine dye solution and was initially introduced in the 1980s for vascular malformations and now represents the gold standard vascular laser with a wealth of published evidence. The unique MultiPlex technique combined two wavelengths: The 585‐nm wavelength targets oxyhemoglobin found in erythrocytes and turned HbO2 into met-Hb, which was then absorbed by long pulsed Nd-YAG 1064nm.The main modes of actions are photothermal, including coagulation of the blood and endothelial damage in conjunction with photochemical effects. In this presentation, we will briefly introduce the application of PDL in treatment of keloids, hypertrophic scars, acne scars, surgical scars, and hemangiomas.
