Facial contouring surgery become more and more popular in Taiwan. Recently, patients want to improve the aesthetic outcome of facial contour and reduce downtime. They demand for quick recovery procedures which I termed mini-invasive facial contouring surgery. The concept of mini-invasive facial contouring surgery is based on thermal fibroliposculpting (TFLS) which combined LSSA liposuction, Renuvion tightening and Mint lifting.
Mini-invasive facial contouring surgery includes the following: 1) LSSA (Newpong, South Korea) is ultrasound-base device for liposuction. LSSA has five probes in different sizes and two hand-pieces specialized for the face and body. In particular, it is possible to perform minimally invasive procedures with an ultrasonic 0.9mm probe as small as the diameter of an 18G injection needle. 2) Renuvion (Apyx Medical, Clearwater, FL) is the RF-based device, which is powered by helium plasma. The advantages of this technology is focused delivery of energy immediately heats the fibro‐septal network of the dermis, resulting in immediate soft tissue contraction without heating the full thickness of the dermis. 3) Mint is the first PDO threads in Taiwan market with TFDA clearances. Mint PDO threads with an innovative 360 degree helical barbs pattern that gives the threads the highest tensile strength available to anchor onto sagging facial tissue.
Thermal fibroliposculpting (TFLS) concept is the result of the lipolysis and thermal effects of these devices on adipose and collagen in the subdermal or interstitial space where it is being used both for fat reduction and skin tightening.
In my practice of this procedure, I have found that this surgery has a lasting effect on the contraction of skin and fat reduction on the face. There is no major complication associated with the subdermal use of these devices in my experiences. Mini-invasive facial contouring surgery appears to be a safe, quick recovery and well‐tolerated treatment for improvement of facial contour.
