  • Wise Strategies in Revision Breast Augmentation

Revision breast augmentation is always the most challenging surgery in mammoplasty field. Even though the new biocompatible prosthesis can be able to reduce the capsular contracture rate in primary breast augmentation, many complications like implant displacement/malposition, shape distorsion/asymmatry, poor fitness, recurrent capsular contracture, symmastia, double bubble and bottoming out deformity are still common in revision mammoplasty. Since the success rate of this surgery could vary drastically by various breast condition, decision making, implant selection and procedure chosen by the plastic surgeon, a systemic approach to various issues appears to be necessary to reduce the risks of surgery. In this presentation Dr. Chuang will share his personal experiences in choosing capsulectomy, capsulotomy, plane conversion, or capsulorraphy to treat different revision cases, aiming to reduce the chance of reoperation.
