  • A Voyage of Plastic Laser Surgery

Currently, the method of choice for vascular lesions such as hemangiomas, port wine stain, telangiectasias, and varicose veins of lower extremity is laser photocoagulation. In general, both CW and flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser (FLPDL) in conjunction with the cryogen spray cooling (CSC) system provide excellent results in the treatment. Recent technological advances resulting in laser with longer wavelength and pulsed durations have improved treatment outcome. Meanwhile, the CSC in conjunction with high power laser has been extended to apply for ear reshaping.

The LLLT is another prospective field for the treatment of chronic wounds, cancers, and aesthetics. From bench to bedside, this laser trip is worthy for plastic surgeons.
