  • Tongue reconstruction with the superficial circumflex iliac artery perforator flap

    Objective:
Different free flaps have been introduced to reconstruct the tongue defect. The superficial circumflex iliac artery perforator (SCIP) flap gained popularity because of its thinness and prominent donor site scars. Given this, the SCIP flap was assessed for reconstruction after hemiglossectomy and subtotal glossectomy.

    Material and Methods:
A total number of seven patients who received SCIP flap for tongue defect reconstruction were included in this study. Detail on clinical characteristics was collected, and the postoperative results were analyzed.

    Results:
All SCIP flaps were survived without any complications. The postoperative functions were acceptable.

    Conclusion:
The SCIP flap may be a good choice for the reconstruction of hemi and subtotal glossectomy defects.
