  • How to Design and Perfect the Procedures of Reduction Malarplasty

Wide face is also one of the mostly concerned problems that would usually lead to less charming in the Asian beauty. Except the mandible, wide zygoma meets the key of facial contouring, and usually relates to the sunken cheek, depressed temple and the delicate proportion in rhinoplasty.
Zygoma, anatomically divided into the body and arch, forms a person’s midface contour. Aesthetic adjustment should be designed individually to a patient’s requirement. Therefore, “malarplasty” is not only a simple concept of reduction, but a meaning of shaping zygoma body and arch as well as related soft tissue.
Different methods have been proposed: L shaped, linear, C shaped osteotomy or greenstick fracture for zygoma body; while single or multiple fractures for zygoma arch.
In this lecture, the author will explain the rationale of malarplasty techniques he use, especially focus on long limb L shaped osteotomy for zygoma body and temporal incision for zygoma arch reduction. How to correct the preexisted asymmetry and some ancillary procedures for soft tissue to achieve perfection will be also shared in this lecture.
