  • Utility of Computer assisted design 3D template in the free flap transfer in Parry-Romberg syndrome - Case report

Parry-Romberg syndrome, or progressive hemifacial atrophy, is a rare disorder usually affecting one side of face with loss of soft and hard tissue. Variable severity of disease always need individual reconstructive options to achieve face harmony. Free tissue transfer could provide the widest flexibility in severe disease. However the prediction of really volume and proper position of flap is still challenge. Here we share our experience in the computer assisted design 3D template for the soft tissue defect reconstruction in Parry-Romberg syndrome. Computer assist virtual surgical planing via mirror image helps the prediction of flap volume and position. Intra-operation, we used the three-dimensional(3D) printed template to assisted flap design during the flap harvest and inset.
