One of the common targets for aesthetic facial surgical procedures is lower eyelid rejuvenation, which focuses to recreate a smooth transition from the lower eyelids to the upper cheeks. It is a challenging intervention, although it is evolving through experience, as with all facets of surgical procedures. The outcomes of lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be improved through various techniques. However, there is debate over which are the optimal approaches and practice modes, so outcomes vary widely among practitioners. Herein, we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of surgical and injectable approaches to lower eyelid blepharoplasty, taking into account the effects of aging on the face and the anatomy of the lid-cheek junction.
