  • Preoperative Planning and New Submammary Fold Technique for Breast Augmentation with Anatomical Implants

Form-stable, anatomical breast implants, such as the Mentor MemoryShape, give the surgeon greater control of the shape of the implant, which is the prerequisite for having good control of the shape of the new breast. The choice of anatomical or round implants and the selection of the proper implant size and shape should be determined by the patient’s desire, anatomy, and surgical history . Equally essential to a successful breast augmentation are the accurate vertical positioning of the implant on the chest and the precise placement of a new submammary incision, both of which can be ascertained with meticulous preoperative measurements and markings. The new submammary incision, when adopted, needs to be coupled with a special suture technique, as will be demonstrated in the video. This method has a proven track record of creating satisfactory and aesthetically pleasing outcomes.
