  • Clinical application of Motiva Ergonomix implant - the concept for a new generation implant

Contemporary breast augmentation surgery originated in 1962, when Doctors Gerow and Cronin invented the first silicone breast implants. After that time, silicone breast implants have been evolving for more than 50 years. In 2010, a new bioengineered, cell-friendly nanotexture implant called MOTIVA was invented and became the new generation breast implant.
Since the SilkSurface™ MOTIVA was introduced to Taiwan in March 2019, and inspite of the higher cost, it's use among doctors became a trend in breast augmentation. It’s nanotexture surface reduces the capsule contracture rate, and the progressive gel contributes to the natural looking and soft touch.
The author will present the clinical experiences of MOTIVA silicone breast implants for breast augmentation in consecutive patients in a single clinic since March 2019. The MOTIVA implant demonstrates an outstanding result with lower rates of early complications. However, according to our experiences, MOTIVA is more prone to have implant malposition due to the less firm soft tissue envelope. The surgical planning and techniques must be adjusted differently from previous texture and smooth silicone implants.
The breast augmentation has a long and no straightforward history. The new generation implant leads to a new concept for breast augmentation. Still there is no truly optimal method without risks or adverse effects. We try to make every case successful, and the experiences of MOTIVA implants may help.
