Purpose:
Fat grafting is increasingly used as the autologous filler in facial rejuvenation. As an adjuvant surgery of blepharoplasty, it can fulfill the volume loss of aged face, and furthermore, promote the cellular regeneration in molecular aspect. We collected the patient underwent lower blepharoplasty or total blepharoplasty combine with fat graft, to evaluate the incidence of oil cyst.
Material and Methods:
We reviewed our institution and a plastic surgery clinic, retrospective series of cases underwent lower or total blepharoplasty combine with fat graft between January 1, 2016 to September 30, 2020, to evaluate the incidence of oil cyst.
Results:
Oil cyst were noted in 9 patients, 3 of them were bilateral, total 12 lower eyelid. The incidence of oil cyst was 4.76%. The mean interval between fat graft and oil cyst noted was 260.89 days. Average grafted fat was 2.99, 3.00 ml, right and left respectively.
Conclusions:
The incidence of oil cyst is low and can be managed easily. The fat harvest and processing technique may be the key to better outcome.
